At present, China has achieved results in many aspects of online public opinion monitoring and management in the education sector, with preliminary public opinion management systems and corresponding organizations in place.

However, the current management system can no longer adapt to the current online public opinion environment supported by education big data, nor can it support educational decision-making through big data analysis of online public opinion.

The main problems of public opinion monitoring are as follows:

(1) Online public opinion monitoring in education is still in a stage of fragmented management, and a unified, comprehensive and effective online public opinion management system covering the entire education system has not yet been formed. Responses to public opinion incidents are slow and ineffective, failing to solve problems in a timely, coordinated, rational and efficient manner.

(2) At present, there is no dedicated, centralized and unified comprehensive online public opinion management information platform for education that covers all aspects of the sector. Differences in data and indicators lead to conflicting public opinion responses among educational authorities at all levels, causing public confusion and undermining the overall credibility of the education system.

(3) There are gaps in the monitoring and management of online public opinion in education, with no unified platform covering the full chain of scope coverage, public opinion analysis, response, summary evaluation and supervision.

(4) A lack of big data analysis connectivity inside and outside the education system makes it difficult to verify the authenticity of online information and the accuracy of analysis, resulting in errors in public opinion monitoring and response.
