SEO does require article content, but can you do SEO if you cannot write original content? The answer is yes. So-called original content is just one way of organizing content, and there are various ways to structure it. Without the ability to create original content, you can still do SEO by compiling and integrating existing materials. The fundamental goal is to present more valuable content for both search engines and users.

Many people ask what kind of content is valuable. This question can be answered from the perspective of how search engines work, specifically indexing and database principles:

First of all, Baidu’s index database is hierarchical. Many beginners may not know this, so I will explain it in detail.

Websites with high-quality content are assigned to the **core index database** after being crawled. Pages with average content quality go into the **general database**, while lower-quality content is placed in the **basic database**.

When users search for a keyword, Baidu first retrieves content from the core database to display. According to current Baidu statistics, 60% of user search needs can be satisfied using only the core database. This explains why some websites have high indexing volumes but poor traffic: their pages are simply not high-quality.

So how does Baidu determine whether a page’s content is high-quality? In fact, there is one overall rule: **meeting user needs and being valuable to users**. When you scrape content, have you ever considered whether it is truly useful to users? This is the essence of SEO.

Does scraped content count as low-quality? First, Baidu’s rejection of scraping refers to the careless behavior of mass-copying existing online content and publishing it without sorting. If you purchase or collect content, then process and integrate it, add your own opinions, insights or summaries to create higher-value content, Baidu has no reason to reject it.

This brings us to pseudo-original content. What about pseudo-original articles? Pseudo-original usually means batch-modifying some keywords in scraped content in an attempt to trick Baidu into thinking it is original. However, the content itself is often damaged and unreadable for users, seriously harming user experience without satisfying real needs. Search engines strongly dislike this practice. Therefore, I still hold the view: Baidu does not oppose scraping itself.
